Twiddler2

We have sold the last of the Twiddler2's. Unfortunately, the maker of the TrackStick (CTS) used in our pointing device has gone out of business and we are unable to find a replacement that will fit in the Twiddler2 case. Since we are unable to get the needed parts, the Twiddler2 will no longer be available.

Twiddler3?

We have been trying very hard to move forward with plans for a Twiddler3. A Twiddler3 should be, we thought, a Bluetooth device, capable of wireless communication and also wired USB. For a pointing device, we have been much encouraged by accelerometer-based tilt sensors. Some of you may recall that the Twiddler1's pointing device was based on an electrolytic tilt sensor. We liked that system, but there was about a 200-300 millisecond lag in response which we found was, in the end intollerable. A solid-state tilt sensor claims to have eliminated the response problem and we were very exicted at this possibility. Also, initial estimates indicated that, even with the added cost of the Bluetooth and a Lithium-ion battery and charger, we could hold the selling price close to that of the Twiddler2.

Unfortunately, however, a big stumbling block is the price tag for development. After figuring as carefully as we could, the development would cost about $60,000. This is simply too much for Handykey to take on, since Handykey is still in debt for development costs for the first 2 models.. We have been working on Twiddlers, trying to improve them with each successive model, since 1989. In order to go forward, we cannot do it alone. Right now the path ahead is unclear.
